It started after I had left over LED strip from another project that I just completed. While I was looking for ideas on the original project, which was installing Cove / Crown molding lighting, I had seen these floor laps. They looked interesting, but quite expensive ( >$80) for one.
With left over material, I really only had to buy the Trim Channel from a local Lowes.
3D printed baseI decided to make the base using fusion 360 & without really looking at any other design. I took the dimensions of the trim channel and traced them out. After printing it, it stands nice on the hard floor, but not so well on carpet. I'm working on making feet for it, so it will sit better on carpet. I also 3D printed a cap for it. Thingiverse Files are here.
I decided to paint the trim channel black, so that it looks a little better than the aluminum color.
Simply tape the back of the LED strip to the inside of the trim channel. If you did not have to cut off the power connector, plug it in and you should be good to go!
