The objective is to create a low-cost, robust, and modular Internet of Things (IOT) weather station that can serve as a solution for 3rd world countries like Haiti, where they do not have the necessary weather/climate data that can help support future agricultural growth, provide weather pattern data for public safety and infrastructure. IOT weather stations have the biggest impact in 3rd world countries with the potential to double a country’s food production and increase agricultural profits. Our task will be to redesign the weather board to better suit our design needs. We will try to incorporate the new IOT boards that the particle company has released including the Argon and Xenon as well as a new power supply system that will allow solar charging capabilities and a larger battery threshold. Once the station has been completed and tested, we will train a group of technicians to monitor and replace parts on weather stations in the event that it gets damaged or malfunctions. We are hoping to provide a blueprint for cheap IOT weather stations for future generations and decrease barriers due to expensive technological obstacles.
