If you use MaxMSP then you're already familiar with flow-based programming, likewise if you use Octoblu. Octoblu is a lot like Max, accept that it runs in the cloud and manages and connects devices and web-services as well and lets you build persistent automation and control in the cloud. Its Max, but for the Internet of Things.
Max is really amazing for interactive art and sound applications, but does not do web or IoT very well. By connecting it to Octoblu you gain powerful resources and endless extendability! You could for example, easily connect a swarm of bluetooth drones to Octoblu and as a result to Max7 and control them from anywhere! Or pull data from twitter and visualize it in Max. You could quickly connect a bluetooth Arduino and use it as web enabled music controller!
Visit https://meshblu-connectors.readme.io/docs to see all the different devices Octoblu connects to and https://octoblu-designer.readme.io/ for everything else!
Lets Get Started! To get Max connected to Octoblu we'll use a Gateblu Plugin that will run on the same machine running Max. This plugin will talk to Max over OSC and to Octoblu via the web, thus building a two way connection.
3. Run Gateblu and click on "Claim" to attach it to your account
4. Remotely Install the OSC Plugin to your Gateblu
5. Configure Options for the plugin
6. Download the sample patches for Max and run them.
7. Import the sample flows into your Octoblu account and Deploy them (click on the play icon).
8. Now you can press the triggers in Octoblu and play music on Max or send tweets down!
