Wildfires are an issue in many countries including mine. It's alarming that some of them were actually intentionally set. Keeping track of wildfires as they emerge is crucial to fighting them on time before they escalate.
To address this issue we propose a network of drones set in strategic locations. Their job would be to fly up to a pre-defined height and take 360 degree imagery. This imagery would be analyzed by an AI to determine if there's a fire in a particular area. If there is one, it alerts the authorities.
To do this project we propose we start off with one drone and test the capabilities.
The drone would take off at a required altitude, record the 360 imagery by stitching together images from all directions, and land. A specialized landing pad would charge the drone for the next flight.
As it lands it would deliver the imagery to a land based computer for AI analysis (RasPi or alternative) to classify the imagery and define if there's a wildfire or not.
