This is a (almost) real-time virtual flip display of arrivals and departures that works for most airports in the world. It makes use of the so-far stable services provided by airlabs.co and is implemented using raspberry pi running apache and php 8. I 3D printed the custom enclosure too.
I made it because I wanted to see where people were flying off to from my local airport while I stay home. That and I think it is truly quite interesting.
I described what I did with enough detail for your to build your own on this post on my site (I don't really want to copy all that same text here). Another good source of information is my Github project page.
From code to enclosure, everything is available for you to do it. Other than time, money, material and interest what is stopping you?
