Automated Device for BVM is not a respirator, but an accessory for the manual respirator with the objective of assisting the healthcare professional, considering that BVM Respirators are already devices certified by regulatory agencies.
Our goal is not to replace an ICU respirator, which costs up to US$ 10,000, but to assist health professionals, to avoid what happened in Spain and Italy, where volunteers used the manual respirator to keep the patient alive. The prototype cost less than US$ 50.
In this sense, and in this situation, Automated Device for BVM can contribute significantly, it is even expected that it is not necessary, but in Europe this device could have contributed to preserve many lives. It is, therefore, an accessory for use in extreme conditions.
