Gesture Beacon

In this project Roxana, Philipp, Nadim and Robert set out to demonstrate how with basic sensors you can create a rich interaction environment. Ever stood in front of a shopping window and wanted to see that dress from the other side? Well, have a look at our presentation!

We tried to show that you can add gestures to many real-world physical things, with something as simple as a pair of proximity sensors. We connect to the relayr cloud, listen for changes in values that two adjacent proximity sensors report, and extract gestures from this information.

Depending on what gesture was recognized, our barbie spins left or right, and the Philips Hue changes color to red or blue. And when it all should be over -- well, just blow out the Hue!
