My partner and I love plants, so we decided to build a device to help ensure that our plants love us just as much. This device has two main functions. One is to measure the temperature of the plant through a digital temperature sensor. The other is to measure the moisture level within the plant's soil. The photo below shows how the system works.
It is found that the optimal temperature for a plant environment is around 21°C to 27°C (70°F to 80°F). For the optimal moisture level for plants, the range is around 20% to 60%.
How Is It Useful? That being said, plants aren't far different from humans in that sense. On those cold winter days, we humans can just throw an extra layer of clothes and maybe add a jacket. Unfortunately, they don't make jackets in plant size.
As you may know, plants, like humans, also need water to sustain life. When we are thirsty our body will tell us in several different ways. Although for plants, they can't just holler at you and say "Hey, I'm thirsty". For this reason, we have adapted the moisture level sensor so the plant lover can make sure its precious baby plant never goes without.
Why Would Someone Want It?I bet you're thinking, "Yes, I love this invention and I need one for each of my plants", but there's more. This device is also integrated with alert capabilities that will send notifications straight to your phone when your plant needs attention. Only if babies had this capability, right? So yes, instead of having to check your plants through the integrated graphing system every so often to determine the needs of your plant, they are sent directly to you.
A bunny ear succulent was planted for this project. To take care of this type of succulent, the soil must be constantly damp. This system will make sure of that.
So, as you can see, this is the best thing on the market for those of you, like us, who love all plant life.
