ABSTRACT:
Read more- As the current human Population is 7.7 billion and growing day by day hence food demand is also increasing accordingly. Fish is a rich source of vitamins, minerals, protein, nutrients, and micronutrients. It is an important part of consumers’ diets, especially in poor and underdeveloped countries. It is a big challenge for farmers to fulfill market demand with healthy seafood. Aquaculture is a tool to fill the gap between seafood supply and demand. The use of controlled environment production of aquaculture has been increased to a significant level but losses have been huge due to manual equipment and management failure. Farmers need real-time and accurate information to monitor and maximize production potential. Farmers are using traditional techniques and procedures for aquaculture. By following the traditional approach, the farmer manually monitors the water quality, water level, oxygen level, and stress level of the aquaculture. In this study, we proposed an Internet of Things (IoT) based smart aquaculture model that will measure water quality (pH, water level, temperature, turbidity, and motion detection of fish) for aquaculture. This work uses low-cost and short-range wireless sensor network modules to monitor and control aquaculture in real time. The water recycling mechanism is also proposed to reduce the number of aquatic waste materials. By using these systems parameters of water are monitored continuously using a serial port which reduces internet consumption, and transmitted data regularly with small latency error-free and ensures the survival of aquatic life also ensures the quality of growth and increases the economic benefits of aquaculture. The system also detects the movements of fish in the pond.
- Fish, seaweed, algae, and many other creatures are bred, raised, and harvested through aquaculture, which is also known as aqua-farming. Another definition includes breeding species, which develop under-regulated settings in an aquatic environment. One of the most dependable and environmentally friendly methods for providing humans with high-quality protein is aquaculture. Because there is greater food convergence in this process, it is more effective than other types of agriculture. The process of aquaculture has gained worldwide recognition. Asia is responsible for 40.1% of the global aquaculture production of fish, which accounts for 88.5 percent of the global total. In South Asia, namely over the last 15 years, aquaculture performance has increased more quickly. Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Cambodia, Malaysia, and Thailand are among the seven nations in Southeast Asia. Cambodia, with its successful inland fisheries, ranks among the top countries for aquaculture volume, behind only Thailand, Laos, and Viet Nam, according to UNFAO 2007. Currently, Pakistan's fisheries industry only makes up 0.4% of the country's GDP, and it's over 350 million dollars in annual exports appear to be at a halt. In contrast to other South Asian nations, Pakistan, for instance, is not achieving its full potential. Nearly 1.70 [4] percent of the GDP is contributed by India, and almost 3.69 percent is contributed by Bangladesh.
- The development of aquaculture has received 54% of all investments made in the fisheries sector in Bangladesh. Comparing commercial aquaculture in Pakistan to other industries like agriculture, there is a technological gap. A farmer could run into problems like water rescores, manual water testing, abrupt climate change, lack of government attention, etc. Contrary to daily aquaculture monitoring, manually assessing thousands of people’s behavior and health is highly challenging. Other issues include inadequate site selection, poor record keeping, low water quality, and incorrect management techniques. The dynamics of aquaculture water quality monitoring cannot be changed by traditional water quality monitoring, which likewise did not achieve fixed point monitoring.
