This project is about challenging the senses. Specifically the senses of sight and hearing, with a bit of sense of touch as well. I came up with the idea of this project from the old rule of table manners: "Do not play with your food." With this in mind, a thought occurred to me: "What about the plate that the food is being served on?" I know that playing with the plate is also bad table manners, but this particular plate allows the user to play with different sounds, each of which activates two lights of a different color. To activate these lights, a person simply has to tap one of the five tin foil flaps around the perimeter of the plate, and they can experiment with the sounds to create a melody of their own, as if they were playing a piano, hence the name. The lights allow the user to determine which flap sets off which sound, making it easier to find the notes they are working with, and it will be up to them to decide which order the sounds come out.
