The new all-in-one AT&T IoT Starter Kit was created to help developers jumpstart their IoT projects. It provides the tools needed for IoT innovation including: connectivity, LTE hardware, application services, cloud storage, and more. Take advantage of next-generation 4G LTE connectivity, enabling tech innovators to create IoT solutions quickly and efficiently. This plug & play capability means developers have all they need to build their solutions from scratch.

The new AT&T IoT Starter Kit includes:

• An AT&T Domestic US SIM that includes 300 MB/6 months.

• An LTE modem that runs on the AT&T LTE network.

• Access to AT&T Control Center, an industry-leading IoT connectivity management platform.

• An expandable development board that works with a wide range of plug-in sensors.

• An API to monitor the network connection and data transfer.

• REST APIs, including easy-to-follow documentation and the ability to quickly test APIs without any coding.

• Access to AT&T Flow Designer which helps developers launch IoT apps in minutes.

• A microcontroller carrier board with Arduino™ compatible expansion slot

The open hardware architecture allows you full access to the module, complete with a microcontroller. You can use the LTE shield as stand-alone device or integrated with the microcontroller of your choice. For simplicity, the AT&T IoT Starter Kit ships with a default microcontroller that easily connects to most M2M platforms.

Here’s how to participate in the contest:

1. Create a free Hackster account

2. Register to participate in the contest

3. If you don’t already have a kit, you can buy one from AT&T.

4. Design, build, and document your project

5. Submit your project on this contest page

Note: Contest is only for US residents

Guidelines for submitting your project:

• Build your project using the AT&T IoT Starter Kit and PubNub.

• Document your project using the hackster project template

• Describe your project with plenty of details: What are you creating? What does it do? Why does it matter?

• Add your project to the contest by clicking on “Add my Project”

• When your project is complete, submit it by clicking on “Submit to Contest”

Submit your project by Apr 2, 2017.

Your Project Documentation should include:

• Story and quality images;

• Clear instructions;

• BOM and schematics;

• Source code;

• CAD files if relevant;

• All project submissions must use the AT&T IoT Starter Kit , AT&T cellular connectivity, and PubNub. Special consideration will be given to those submissions that use AT&T Flow Designer.

• All projects should be relevant to the theme of the contest

• Project must be a novel solution that solves a real-world business need.

If you didn't win a free kit, don't worry, you can still participate in the contest! You can buy a kit from AT&T.

Winners are selected based on the following criteria:

1) Project Documentation:

Your project must make use of the AT&T IoT Starter Kit, AT&T cellular connectivity, and PubNub. Special consideration will be given to those submissions that use AT&T Flow Designer. Project must be a novel solution that solves a real-world business need.

• Story/Instructions - Show how you created your project, including images, screenshots, and/or video

• BOM– Detail the hardware components as well as apps you used

• Schematics – Use software like Fritzing.org, draw your circuit diagrams, detailed photographs

• Code – Include working code with helpful comments

• CAD - showcase your complete vision with beautiful CAD designs if relevant

• Great photographs, videos, and screenshots are worth a thousand words. Ask yourself: "If I were a beginner reading this project, would I understand how to recreate it?"

• Project must clearly address the contest theme

2) Creativity

• Project must be a novel solution that solves a real-world business need.

• Your idea doesn't have to be original, but it should be creative (a fresh take on an old idea is often worth as much as a brand new idea).
