There are many smart plug nowadays. But almost all of them are not industrial-leven and cannot control AC power with more than 20A current. So I want to design my own smart plug and I also want to name it as power grid controller as it's obviously have more capability compared with a smart plug.
The main part for this power grid monitor are listed below.
- MSOM. A multi-radio SoM from particle. It's the core part for the project.
- AC-DC convertor. A high quality AC-DC convertor from Meanwell.
- ACS37800. A high-end AC current monitor IC from Allegro.
- Relay. High power relay from TE.
- 14BIT ADC. An independent ADC for using the current trnasformer method to measure the current.
How it works:
The theory behind this project is pretty straightforward. But using MSoM to control the relay on and off and also drive the curent monitor IC to monitor both the current and voltage. And then upload those value to cloud. It can also receive command from the cloud to turn on and off the relay remotely.
And because the enclosure I used is a water-proof one. So it's suit for any rough situation.
