Hey, guys welcome back to another Tutorial from RootSaid. Last month, I showed you how you can make a Plant Watering System using Arduino nano 33 IoT. In this tutorial, I will be showing you how you can make an advanced version of that project. Here we will make an automatic plant watering system using Arduino Opla IoT Kit.
Automatic Plant Watering System Video TutorialFor those who are too lazy to read, don't worry, we have a complete video tutorial just for that. Check out the below tutorial.
In the previous post, I showed you everything you need to know about the Arduino Opla IoT Kit. We unbox the kit, showed you different components, how to set it up, and showed you how to upload your first code to your Arduino Opla IoT kit. If you haven’t seen that yet I will leave the link in the description go check it out.
Design your own PCBs for your Project!I used Altium designer to draw the circuit and design the PCB. It is a powerful tool that can be used to design and create our own PCBs for our project as well as complex and multi-layer PCBs for industrial use.
If you are a DIY Electronic enthusiast, I bet this is gonna be really useful for you guys. I have been using it for the past 3-4 years and let me tell you guys, this is amazing! You can download the Free Trial of Altium PCB Designer from here.

So what is this Automatic Plant Watering System? This system mainly consists of an Arduino Opla IoT kit, where we connect the moisture sensor and the pump. The moisture sensor will continuously monitor the water content of the soil and the value of the moisture level will be updated to the Arduino IoT cloud.
We can use the Arduino IoT cloud dashboard to check the moisture content and turn on and off a pump that is connected to a water reservoir. We can also set the pump to turn on automatically when the water level goes below a particular threshold.
Learn Arduino the Easy WayAre you new to Arduino? Do you want to improve your skills in Arduino programming? You are in the right place. We have a complete beginner-level tutorial for Arduino which covers everything from scratch.
In this free Arduino Tutorial for Beginners guide, we will be taking a look at Introduction to Arduino Platform, Getting Started with Arduino IDE, Different Types of Arduino Boards, Arduino
Automatic Plant Watering System Video TutorialIf you are a beginner and you are totally interested in building your own robots and electronics projects, then this channel is for you! I am super excited to teach you everything you need to know about what you need to know!
For this project, all you need is
- Arduino Opla IoT kit
- A 12-volt pump
- A power source that can provide a 12-volt dc supply
Since Arduino Opla IoT kit is a plug-and-play kit, you don’t have to solder any components onto it. You can directly connect the moisture sensor using the connector and pump directly to the relay.
I will provide the complete connection details below. Make sure you check that out.
