This project is about growing a harvest crop while not being onsite most of the time. The problem I initially tried to solve was remote urban farming. This morphed quite a bit, from a full blown hydroponics bucket system,
completely automated mini stack-able greenhouses,
gravity dosed 1 gallon reservoir, (Had leaking problems due to the high acidity of the concentrated nutrients) Switched to dosing pumps after these, more expensive but just better all around.
RPI & Photon board, this allowed back up control when the photon used to get the blue light of death back when it first came out. Also this provided an interred video platform to generate and compile time-laps
Building the fan / temperature / led controls
Stacking in a room, The boxes were designed to stack 3 high, 31" tall
These devices were functional but, I didn't think it was realistic to manufacture, So instead of providing all the structure, I decided to focus on the hardware. As I am just 1 person.
Finally I made the Planter Box
And then the migration to the Green House (Harbor Fright 10x12)
This is GrowStacks hardware Version 8
Version 8.1 has the integrated RF
Here is how the full system is setup today.
