Hi, I have received a sensecap M2 Multiplatform Gateway from seeedstudio to review. SO here it is...
I have received the gateway, antenna, antenna cable and a power supply.
Im very very pleased with the packaging, Its packed in a Foam base within the box. It is nicely packaged and assorted. Assembling everything is easy and straightforward. Screw in the antenna cable to the M2 Unit, Screw the antenna on the cable's magnetic base. Plug in the power and let it start up. Plug in a LAN cable to your existing network OR your laptop and run an IPscan to find the "sensecap" device. Log in and configure.
Here in the overview, you can see you active connections count, WiFi SSID, WAN( ETH0), and traffic on the system.
Now that is a VERY basic outline of the Software config. There is still tones of settings to change if you wanted to. As this is a hardware review, Im not going to go in depth here. SO with that being said, comment if you want a better outline of the software, Lets proceed with the hardware
Here is the view you are greeted with once you opened the Top white cover. Here you can see 90% of all the components. The WM1302 is the LoRaWAN Gateway module.
Then to the IO side of the PCB we see the WM7628N-A module, a pretty decent 300Mbps WiFi module that runs the OpenWRT LuCi based operating system. Behind the ethernet port you have a "THT" ( through hole ) POE power supply, that efficiently steps down 48V to 12V.
All in all, the hardware is designed very cost effectively, and reliably. I will give is a solid 10/10 for hardware. Its efficient, minimal heat loss, and decent package size.
I recommend this hardware to anyone wanting to tryout a basic LoRaWAN setup.
Enjoy!!
